ERO Courses

ERO stands for Emergency Response Officer and is a term used to describe the system of company emergency response in the Netherlands. The purpose of emergency response is to ensure the safety and well-being of employees, visitors, and others within a company or organization. Specifically during emergencies.

ERO, includes a number of areas that explain measures, procedures and training. These are specially designed so that students can provide assistance in various emergency situations. These emergency situations can occur in the workplace but also outside it.

The most important ERO-areas are:

  1. First Aid: EROs are trained to provide first aid to colleagues or visitors who have been injured or have suddenly become ill until professional responders arrive.
  2. Firefighting: EROs are trained in extinguishing small, incipient fires and supervising evacuations in the event of a fire.
  3. Evacuation: EROs are responsible for supervising and organizing a quick and safe evacuation of the building in the event of an emergency or imminent danger.
  4. Communication: EROs are trained to communicate effectively during emergency situations, both internally within the organization and with external emergency services.

It is common for companies and organizations to train certain employees as EROs. These EROs serve as the first point of contact in emergency situations. By having well-trained EROs, a company can respond quickly and effectively. This can limit or even prevent injury or damage. This contributes to a safer working environment and helps to minimize the consequences of emergency situations.

An emergency response course falls into 2 categories: Basic and Repetition. A Refresher Course can only be taken if you already have a valid emergency response diploma (less than 1 year old). Otherwise you must follow the Emergency Response Basic course.

Practice day

During the practice day, Life-saving First Aid and Fire Evacuation and Communication will be covered. The practical day lasts the entire day and is divided into 2 sessions. Practical exercises are conducted in groups of up to 3 people. Remember, one Ero is no Ero!

During the first part of the day, you will receive practical exercises in Life-saving First Aid. Here, you will learn everything you need to know about First Aid and acquire skills to be prepared for various situations. For instance, you will receive instructions on the best approach to the victim, how to apply bandages, and practice CPR with an AED (using a mannequin).

The second part of the day focuses on Fire Evacuation and Communication. Here, you will engage in practical exercises involving fire extinguishers, fire safety, and approaches to different types of fires. You will also practice various real-life situations, such as extinguishing small bin fires, dealing with a person on fire (mannequin), and using our own training props with real fire.

We will provide a comprehensive lunch on this day, and coffee/tea will be included.
