VCA company certification is intended for companies that want to work more safely and healthily. This is particularly interesting for companies that perform activities involving an increased risk of accidents, such as those carried out on construction sites. These activities often involve the use of various machines and work at heights. It also applies to work performed in factories with complex installations.
VCA company certification is not only relevant for companies engaged in high-risk activities but is also valuable for companies that want to focus more on safety and health in the workplace. Obtaining your VCA company certification can be a significant addition to your organization, demonstrating that your company places a high priority on Safety, Health, and Environment. Clients can trust that VCA-certified companies or organizations and their employees meet specific standards in the areas of safety, health, and the environment. Moreover, VCA company certification is increasingly demanded by clients.
Benefits of VCA Company Certification
With a VCA company certificate, your organization’s HSE system seamlessly aligns with that of your client, facilitating quicker and more efficient communication. Having a VCA company certificate is also advantageous for your internal organization. Your employees gain more insight into your organization’s HSE policy, increasing awareness of risks that may arise in your own workplace and during work at client sites. This can help reduce absenteeism within your organization.

Is VCA mandatory for a freelancer (ZZP’er)?
There is no VCA company certificate for a freelancer (ZZP’er). However, a VCA company-certified (main) contractor can only hire a freelancer who is sufficiently qualified in the field of HSE and holds a personal VCA-VOL (Safety Checklist for Contractors for Operational Supervisors) certificate. For specific tasks, proof of additional qualifications in accordance with the SSVV Training Guide may also be required.
Additionally, you must meet the following conditions when hired by a contractor with a VCA company certificate:
- You must have a recent Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E).
- You must possess a VCA-VOL certificate.
- The tools and equipment you work with must be approved.
